Panamanian law requires that before de development of a project, an environmental impact study (EsIA) is done. The EsIA examines the environmental impacts of the project through the stages of construction and operation. The EsIA also propose a number of measures, and activities undertaken to mitigate or compensate for the environmental impacts, that the developer should implement, document and present to ANAM.
